Technical Operations

The technical operations team manages, in real time (24/7) or with delayed response, the technical equipment of the Brussels-Capital Region:

  • Management of civil engineering structures and technical equipment
  • Problem monitoring and detection
  • Initiation of safety and maintenance actions
  • Monitoring of minimum operational conditions

Operations Room :

  • 2 technical operators available 24/7
  • 1 technical supervisor available from 5:30 AM to 9:15 PM, Monday to Friday

Support Staff :

  • 3 engineers providing technical and operational support, as well as project follow-up: renovation of equipment, new projects, etc.

Expert Support:

On-call decision support available 24/7

Scope of Technical Operations

Urban Network

15 km of highway network :

  • 5 km on the Ring Road (R0)
  • 10 km on highways E40, E411, A12, A201

13 km of tunnel network: :

  • Distributed across 26 tunnels

400 km of regional roads :

  • Maintenance and cleaning of roads, sidewalks, bike paths, and sewers
  • Maintenance of fixed signage
  • Maintenance of 780 signalized intersections (> 5,000 traffic signal poles)
  • Maintenance of 24,000 public lighting points
  • Approximately 4,500 urgent maintenance requests annually

26 tunnels :

  • 13 tunnels longer than 300 meters
  • Maximum speed: 50 km/h
  • Maximum weight: 3.5 tons
  • Up to 90,000 vehicles/day (e.g., Madou tunnel)
  • Approximately 7,000 intervention requests annually
